Jean Toussaint - Brotherly Love

The life of Jean Toussaint has taken him from his birthplace in the US Virgin Islands, to living in New York, studying at Berklee College of Music and being resident in Britain for the last 30 years. His membership of firebrand drummer Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers saw him undergo a baptism of fi re that took his playing to the next level. Channelling all these experiences into his new album, Brother Raymond, Alyn Shipton caught up with the saxophonist ahead of his UK tour, supporting a star-studded tribute to Blakey and the memory of his late brother
