Africa's most important festival of its kind, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, gets underway on Friday and continues on Saturday.

Acclaimed guitarist Ralph Towner has a new album out today and arrives in the UK for a short solo tour commencing on 1 April.

The Jazz House, a new weekly radio programme on BBC Radio Scotland, launches on 5 April.

A six figure sponsorship deal over three years has been announced by what has now become the HSBC Brecon Jazz Festival after the long running festival secured a title sponsorship deal with the multinational bank.

'Trio' featuring pianist Marcin Wasilewski, bassist Slawomir Kurkiewicz and drummer Michal Miskiewicz, may be better known as Tomasz Stanko's band but since their solo debut on ECM last year they are fast becoming internationally known in their own right.
