Mark Holub and his ensemble, Led Bib, are this year's winners of the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award. The £4,000 award will be used to fund a small festival in London and release a new Led Bib album. Twenty-four-year old Mark Holub, drummer and founder of Led Bib, is from New Jersey, USA, and has been studying and performing in the UK for the last five years. Mark's influences include Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, Albert Pyler, Derek Bailey and Evan Parker. At Leeds College of Music and Middlesex University Mark studied with Trevor Vincent, Graham Hearn, Tony Mann, Eddie Parker, Paul Clarvis and Martin France. Led Bib formed in 2003 and released their first album in May last year.
